Grande Prairie Hats part 2

Today we will talk about the Leanne hat and mittens from my new eBook, Grande Prairie hats. Those of you who know me might have been wondering which of the designs in this book was the one that I started with no clue how to make it. This is the one. Leanne the hat uses Intarsia to create stripes of colour that run the length of the hat, which is worked flat from end to end and grafted. This is the ideal project if you have been wanting to try Intarsia but haven’t known quite where to start. It’s a very fast knit, because it is worked in bulky yarn over few stitches.

I have been working on this post for 3.5 hours now, it is taking me forever to get the pictures to work. I don’t know what is wrong, but I am giving up for now. Please follow the rav links above to see more pictures.

The mittens are a very fast knit as well. Abi knit a pair in 5 hours yesterday. The cast on uses both colours together, but after that only one yarn is used at a time. The thumb is created using a very ingenious method, if I do say so myself. I hope you try it, I bet you will love it. I will be playing more with this construction over time, but for now, the only way to get this pattern and try it yourself is to purchase the eBook, which is on sale for $17 until Friday.

In an effort to get more comments posted today, the winner of the 50% off coupon for either one pattern or the entire collection will be drawn randomly. I will likely not post until tomorow evening again, so I will do the draw for today’s winner then. Good luck! Please post to tell me which is your favorite design from the collection. Anyone who has not won before is elligable. Sorry Patty, you can’t win twice. ;)

I think Bregdan is my favorite, but it is a tough choice. The whole collection is marvelous!

I’m not eligible either (past winner AND reviewer), but Lara is my favorite by a very slim margin. Because, buttons! But I did spend yesterday chatting with friends and designing my future Frivolity. Heck, we planned a whole outfit around it, it’s that awesome of a hat. I’ll give you one hint: PEACOCKS.

I think I love Leanne hat the best. I am a HUGE! fan of intarsia and this is such a happy way to use the technique. I think if I had to choose a second favorite it would be Frippery. :)

Still love Frippery the most. Even if I had never won your discount; I would still be a winner because of my friendship with talented and lovely ladies like you! Wishing you great success with your first EBook!

I think Leanne is my favorite. I’ve never tried intarsia before, but this looks like a great first project to learn it. Another plus is the headband style of it, I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it during our very long winter!

The Leanne set is my favorite, with Bregdan being a close second. I can totally see myself making a Frivolity for my dear SIL. I’m not allowed to cast on for anything until I finish a sweater (just needs the 2nd sleeve) and a Christmas scarf… After I get those done, I will definitely cast on something!

I’ll be arriving in Northern Alberta next week from continental Europe and I’ll need a hat and mittens so Leanne is my choice.

Really? Where are you going to? You definitely need a Leanne set! The snow is blowing like crazy today in Grande Prairie!
