Do you remember summer camp?  Specifically, Camp Loopy?  Project 2 was cabled socks or mitts.  I was going to knit my pattern SoSaH for the challenge..or, maybe…work on a version of SoSaH that didn’t involve lace.  That was the plan, at least.

Somehow, once I got started, the cables led me in a different direction…and a new pattern was born.  I originally called it “Supercomplicated Cables” but Trisha thought that might scare people away.  She looked at the original, knit in a deep blue Star Struck from Studio June, and decided instead that it should be named Mariee, after the painting La Mariee.

The original Mariee was a horribly difficult sock to photograph…sparkly (with strands of real silver) and a deep purple-blue.

Fortunately for me, Tesia knit a pair of these for herself…and had a delightful photo shoot with Abi (which they’ll tell all about later this week).

Mariee may look supercomplicated, but she’s really not that scary.  She’s fully charted…just take it one line at a time and you’ll be fine.

Mariee is now available for purchase on Ravelry.
