At The Summit: A Spin-Along!

August 4, 2011

We know a lot of you are busy with Camp Loopy and other KALs right now, so we’re waiting until September 1st to start our fun and exciting At The Summit KAL.  Until then, what can you do in anticipation of the At The Summit KAL?

Specifically…spin it or buy it!

For those of you who are spinners, you can use this month to spin your yarn.  The pattern calls for a 2-ply handspun, approximately 14-16 wraps per inch, to be knit at 6.5 stitches per inch. Of course, you can make any yarn that you’d be happy to knit at 6.5 spi…more plies, thinner/thicker…it’s up to you!

What if you don’t spin? Well, you have several options.  There are many vendors/spinners who sell handspun. Or…if you don’t find already-spun handspun that you like, see if you can find someone to spin up some yarn for you.  Of course, if you can’t find handspun, you could always substitute a commercial yarn.  At 6.5 stitches per inch, you’ll be able to substitute a sport weight or DK, depending on the fabric you’d like.

So…what are your At The Summit yarn plans?
