Mohair locks

February 25, 2011

This weekend at Madrona, mohair locks in varying wild colours were available at several booths. The colours and texture were tempting, but if you don’t spin, or don’t want to spin with this, what can you use it for? Well, at the suggestion of my sons, we used them with clay to make sculptures. We used self hardening clay from Crayola, and pointy bamboo skewers to poke the locks into the c lay. I used them to push the beads in for eyes as well. Here are a few photos for inspiration.

Mmmm, mohair locks. I’d spin them, but you and your boys did a fabulous job anyway!
