Where Have You Been?????

October 23, 2010

Or, more accurately, why does life keep getting in the way of blogging? :)

It’s been a crazy couple of months…I finally decided to start the process of going back to school…so, starting in August, I’ve been enrolled in a general biochemistry class…4-5 days a week, at 8:30 in the morning (and anyone who knows me knows I don’t function at all that early in the morning!).  On top of studying and writing papers, I’ve also been designing, knitting up samples, and writing patterns.  And being busy writing a paper at work.  And the next few weeks bring another biochem test and the GREs.  Plus very very insistent designs that snuck into my brain and demanded to be knit.

Last weekend, though, I was able to take a much needed break…and travel out to the DC area to meet some awesome knitters (hiJen!Jessica!Kurt!Marion!Everyone else!) and attend a class taught by Sharon of Three Irish Girls at The Yarn Spot on knitting with handpainted yarn.  Sharon is a delightful and hilarious teacher (so if you get the chance to take one of her classes, go for it…it’s well worth the travel) and I learned some interesting things about methods of dyeing yarn and pooling.  Ah, pooling.  Love it or hate…well, we learned tips and tricks for creating and/or avoiding it.

After that, it was time to shop…and shop we did.  Some of the new fall colorways, as well as a wonderful assortment of Carpe Yarnem skeins.

These are the babies that followed me home:
